INITIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD

A 7-month period that begins 3 months before the month you turn 65. This includes the month you turn 65 and ends 3 months after.

If you sign up during the first 3 months of your IEP, in most cases, your coverage starts the first day of your birthday month.

ANNUAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD

Change your Medicare health or drug coverage for the next year, if you decide to.

OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD

If you’re in a Medicare Advantage, you can change to different plans once during this time.

SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD

You can also enroll out of the standard periods if there is a change in circumstances, residence, employment, etc.
